Most of the alcohol and drug rehab programs in Oklahoma use the 12 step program.
The Twelve Step model of addiction is one of the oldest and widely used models available and many short term rehabilitation programs, detoxes and even some longer term treatment programs use this. The twelve step philosophy is also used in a meeting setting and meetings are free, anonymous and held several time per day at various locations such as churches.
The twelve step model deals with principles such as admitting one cannot control one’s addiction, and believing in a higher power for strength. It also covers making amends and learning to live with a new moral code. The final area is helping others.
This philosophy has helped many people but unfortunately the statistical success rate of most 28 day twelve step programs is around 3-10%.
There are addicts who have done that type of program over and over and still are unable to stay off drugs permanently. While the 12-step program works for some, there is the idea in the program by some that relapse is normal.
Oklahoma non 12 step programs do not necessarily have that philosophy. A real good non-12 step program can fully handle addiction so that the person does not relapse again. The other thing with non-12 step programs is that they most often do not consider addiction a progressive disease or something that is handed down through the genes. Therefore , non- 12 step programs have different approaches to the problem more like a broken leg which can be fixed. The ideal scene of a non-12 step program is to have someone who is done with doing drugs and alcohol, who can set goals for their future and do not have to wake up every day and tell themselves that they are an addict. Many non-12 step programs do not have the philosophy of living just one day at a time.
Some addicts like the 12-Step Program and its philosophy but even though trying to follow the program, they continue to have problems to the point of losing everything. Addicts in that category can benefit from doing an Oklahoma non- 12 step program that has a more scientific approach and then maybe go back attending meetings and having the support group that the 12-step and Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotic Anonymous provides.
Our drug rehab in Oklahoma is an Oklahoma non- 12 step program. We do a very through detoxification using vitamins, exercise and sauna to get all the drugs and toxins out of the body. That process can make the difference for someone who wants to quit drugs or alcohol and have not been able to. Most addicts state that their cravings are gone; they can think more clearly and feel physically strong again. There are other things in our program, such as Life Skills Training that help the addict go out and live a drug free and successful life.
Another Non-12 Step Program is Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge does not just take teenagers anymore. They have centers for adult males and adult females. It is faith based and addicts usually have to commit for one year before they are accepted into that program. It has reported success and this program is also completely drug free which means that the addicts are not put on substitute medications and drugs to get off drugs. However the standard program is about one year long.
We could use a few more Oklahoma non 12 step programs. We are currently open for enrollment for our rehabilitation program and achieve a 70% success rate. Contact us today at 888-816-0667.
