What is the definition of non traditional drug rehab?
Well to define this we have to look at the history of drug rehab, not just in Oklahoma but throughout the United States.
For the last 250 plus years addiction and recovery has been referred to as a movement. Some feel it has been based on religious aspects; some feel that it has been scientific. Temperance was the first part of this history, followed by many religious types of treatment including Christian groups, The Salvation Army and then the 12 step philosophy. The 12 step philosophy included both Alcoholics Anonymous and later came Narcotics Anonymous.
Following this was the prohibition era and then after this ended a real focus on rehabilitation began. Rehabilitation programs using 12 step philosophy were the first to start. Mainly these lasted 28 days as this was what most insurances covered. Many residents would attend meetings after and although many 12 step programs helped the success rate for recovery was a mere 3-12%.
Later the non traditional drug rehab was born in the country. Our rehab, one of the largest and most successful Oklahoma non traditional drug rehab programs in the state opened its doors in 1989.
Now, more than 20 years later we have rehabilitated several hundred addicts and repaired thousands of families. Our Oklahoma non traditional rehab achieves a more than 70% success rate and is 100% drug free.
